Webinar | Ground-breaking motor control with Optimized Pulse Patterns (OPPs)

On Thursday 5 March, CISSOID and Silicon Mobility hosted a joint webinar on Optimized Pulse Patterns (OPP), a state-of-the-art, innovative and novel motor control method that can replace conventional modulations such as SVPWM, DPWM, etc.

Unlike time-based carrier modulations, OPP is based on the electrical angle. It applies a switching pulse pattern repetitively at each electrical period and, with no PWM carrier, provides full freedom to locate switching pulses at any angular position. OPP is then optimized for a specific motor and its speed-torque range, enabling targeted improvements depending on your priorities.

What we covered

  • Why OPP is a ground-breaking alternative to conventional PWM modulations (SVPWM, DPWM…)
  • Electrical-angle-based modulation: what changes, and why it matters
  • How OPP can be optimized depending on your priority for inverter or e-motor losses,  Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) or current ripple
  • A powerful and compact SiC inverter control platform and modules
  • Sample A-level, fully functional inverter reference designs, enabling very fast prototyping
  • Automotive-ready by design: qualified hardware and software with functional safety certifications to support production-grade development.
